BILL WALLEN
Mr. Wallen was the Senior Vice President, Creative Director Strategic Marketing Worldwide for Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia /Tri-star Motion Picture Group). He developed and implemented innovative Strategic Marketing opportunities across corporate lines for the Motion Picture, Home Entertainment, Television, Music and Interactive (PlayStation) groups resulting in Sony achieving # 1 Box Office status.
An accomplished Art Director, Producer, Writer, Brand Manager, Creative Director and Strategic Marketing Executive creating effective award-winning advertising, marketing and promotions for Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubicam, Seiniger Entertainment Advertising and WallenDesign, Mr. Wallen creatively directed projects for the Motion Picture, Home Entertainment, Television, Music, Theme Park, Sports, New Media, Publishing, Licensing, Merchandising, Consumer Products and Strategic Planning/Marketing divisions of Disney, Warners, NBC/Universal, Paramount, Dreamworks, Sony (Columbia/Tri-Star/MGM/UA), Fox and LucasFilm.
He developed marketing innovations through emerging technologies and new media for Advertising, Consumer Products, Licensing, Merchandising and Promotional programs for Major Motion Pictures including: Charlotte’s Web, Godzilla, Zorro, Men in Black, Jerry Maquire, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, The Land Before Time, An American Tail, Roger Rabbit, Batman, Star Trek, Gremlins, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Rocky and Jaws.
He created, designed, licensed and managed the development of complete Intellectual Properties and Original Character Development for Entertainment, Sports, Toys, Games, Publishing and Apparel projects including: Ghostbusters, Captain Planet, Stunt Dogs, and The Willowbe Woods Campfire Stories, Thought Factory/D.C. Comic’s, “Superheroes,” and The Laugh Factory’s Weekend Warriors. Retail theme projects include SonyWonder, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Café, and The House of Blues.
He created and developed unique Marketing and Merchandising programs for Television, Music, Sports and Leisure Time projects including comprehensive Licensing programs for Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, Mad About You, the creation of the Fox Kids Clubs and its magazine “Totally Kids” (became the largest circulation kids magazine in the world) and Family Channel’s Fun Town. National and Worldwide Concert, Touring and Merchandising programs for Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Janet Jackson, Harry Connick Jr., Kenny Loggins, Crosby, Stills and Nash, John Denver and Michael Jackson. Studio Direct Collectibles interactive direct response promotional merchandising programs, Organized Sports publishing and apparel, World Cup Soccer, Goodyear Racing, Los Angeles Dodgers, Harlem Globetrotters, Ice Capades and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
He creatively directed Governmental Agency/Corporate I.D. and Interactive Web Site development, Branding, Licensing, Merchandising and National Promotions with Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Pepsi, Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Dominoes Pizza, Subway, Seven Eleven, Kraft, Mattel, Hasbro, Nike, Levi Strauss, Reebok, NBA, MLB, AFL, Visa, American Express, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Target, Toys R Us, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Sega, Sony, U.S. Department of Education, IBM, AT&T, GTE, Scholastic, Random House, Golden Books, Hallmark, American Greetings and Western Publishing.
Currently, Mr. Wallen is the President of WallenDesign an Intellectual Property Development and Strategic Marketing Company working in association with “The Hatchery” (a partnership between Mandalay Entertainment & American Greetings) and the Co-Creator/Producer of The Willowbe Woods Campfire Stories series of Books, Music and Home Entertainment. Currently in release: “The Moon In My Room, The Not Me Monster and A Team Of One.” (Licensed to Random House/Golden Books). WallenDesign is a consultant to Paramount, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon and Child Life Books.
Mr. Wallen is an active voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, a professor, Intellectual Property Development (movies, television, music, publishing & video games) for Licensing. Entertainment Studio/Foundation Studies at The Art Center College of Design, Pasadena California and a frequent guest instructor at AFI, EAA, USC and UCLA marketing, business, and film departments. Lecturer, and panelist at strategic marketing, advertising, design, new media, licensing and consumer product seminars & trade shows throughout the country.
